Despite not professionally trained, my mum is an active trader in the stock market since 2008. Growing up, I always remember my mum looking intensely at the black and yellow screen every day. Whenever there is a value stock, she will phone in with her broker to make a trade order.

 

The Teletext service is now a thing of the past. DIY online investing platforms are fast replacing traditional brokerages.

 

Under the influence of my mum, I also started trading and following the market in 2015. Since then, I cannot live a day without looking at my portfolio at least once and reading daily Bloomberg newsletter.

 

I remember a veteran once told me that finance professionals are one of the most knowledgeable people around. I can't agree with him more. Indeed, for good investing, one has to be well-versed in all areas.
